On the 24th February an International group of 54 friends joined Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar on a coach excursion to the Science Park in Granada.

There are several exhibition spaces where they could better understand the world we live in, check physical phenomena such as gravity, the motion of the earth and carry out scientific experiments relating to meteorology, geography and astronomy.  They could also visit the Animals in Action, where the practice of taxidermy is explained, the Moorish History of Andalucía hall; ride in the lift to the top of the observation tower which is 50 meters high, where on a very beautiful day there was fantastic view of Granada City with the snow caped tops of the Alpujarras in the distance.  There was a compared show of birds of prey in flight, which was excellent and after that there was time for lunch.
The friends then joined the coach for the short drive to the Sacramonte Caves Museum located in the Barranco de los Negros region of Granada, situated on a hill side with views of the Alhambra on the other side of the valley.  Here the guide explained the history of where the people who settled in this area of the city came from and why and how they excavated the caves to live in.  Through the various exhibits in the caves it was possible to experience the living conditions of the families and see the tools of their trades used in basketry, pottery, weaving and ironwork.
There was time for refreshments before returning to the coach for the return journey to Torre del Mar after a very interesting and enjoyable day.  Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar would like to thank all the friends who supported the excursion, which enables the Centre to continue with its Charitable Work and we look forward to seeing you all again at our various events and coach excursions.
