A concert was held in the Cathedral in Malaga on the 22 September to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of Lutheran Reformation.

There were representatives from Spanish Evangelical Church, the Baptist Church, the Finnish Lutheran Church, the German Evangelical Church, the Betel church, President of the association Amigos de la Reforma, the Dean of the Cathedral,  and the Bishop of Malaga  plus members from Anglican , Norwegian and Danish churches – 400 people more or less.
The bishop greeted all the different ministers and people by saying that music is a common language and that the ecumenical path is for us to walk together. There was an introduction explaining the idea of knowing the influence of reform in music given before the music was played.
The organist was William Whitehead an English performer, teacher and writer who has performed concerts in many great Cathedrals around the world.
The program he prepared allowed us to establish an ecumenical dialogue with the music of Protestant and Catholic composers, who knew how to overcome the confessional differences through the language of music; Bach, Pachelbel, Purcel, Bruna, Antonio Cabezon and William Bird.
The concert showed that ecumenism is alive in our diocese. We were able to find elements that unite us in the same spirit.  Hearts were raised to the same god who inspired melodies in people who had encountered Jesus Christ, the Lord, regardless of their faith.
