Trip to Sevilla

On Monday 15th December 48 international friends of Lux Mundi set off by coach for a 3 day excursion to Seville.

After booking in at the Regina Hotel there was free time to walk around the city in the afternoon and also in the evening to see the Christmas lights in all the streets and squares. The lights were fantastic and so varied and the tree at the end of the Avenida de la Constitucion was beautiful.

On Tuesday, a glorious sunny day, everyone had a voucher to travel on the tourist bus and they were able to hop on and off, visiting the many wonderful places of interest such as the Cathedral, the Plaza de Espana and the Basilica of Macarena.  A few adventurous people even climbed to the top of the Giralda to take in the fantastic views of the city. There was also plenty of time to visit the Christmas craft market and the Feria de Belen.

On the final day, after checking out from the hotel, the group travelled the short journey to Italica in Santiponce.  It was another glorious sunny day and the first stop was at the Roman theatre, where there was an opportunity to take photographs.  The coach then moved on to the Italica Archaeological complex, a site of great interest as it was the first permanent Roman settlement in the south of the Iberian Peninsula.  The amphitheatre was among the largest in the empire, with an estimated capacity of between 20,000 and 25,000 and it is truly spectacular. There was so much to marvel at, including many beautiful restored mosaics and the baths.

To end the excursion the group enjoyed a 3 course meal at a restaurant before setting off for the homeward journey, all agreeing that it had been a successful trip with superb weather and great company.  Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar would like to thank all the friends who came along, which enables them to continue with their Charitable Work and we hope to see you all again soon at their various events and excursions in 2016.
