Trip to Granada for the Lorca festival

In the early evening of the 25th of July, 59 international friends of Lux Mundi set off for Granada.

On arrival there was plenty of time to explore the city or to eat in one of the many restaurants, some enjoying sitting by the river with the tranquil sound of running water. At 9pm the group rejoined the bus for the short journey to the Alhambra Palace, enjoying a glorious sunset on the way. They then walked up to the Generalife Gardens and took their seats under the stars for the Lorca Festival performance “Flamencolorquiano”, a sequence of choreographic, musical and scenic pictures, performed by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia. The dancers performed to the songs which inspired Lorca, the ones we find in his works, the dances of the flamenco artists he met and also the flamenco imagined, told and theorized from his conferences. The performance paid tribute to Federico Garcia Lorca, a source which inspires the creation of the artists of the 21st century, showing him absolute respect and pure admiration. The show lasted 2 hours, without a break, and afterwards the group rejoined the bus for the return journey to Torre del Mar, having enjoyed a fabulous evening in an iconic venue. Lux Mundi would like to thank all who supported this excursion, which enables them to continue with their charitable work and we hope to see you all at future events in the Centre and excursions.
