Social, Cultural, and Fundraising Activities

Sharing is also about celebrating, living together, and learning from one another.
Each activity is an opportunity to connect — both with yourself and with others.

May we be, in the midst of this world, small lights that illuminate paths and sparks of salt that bring flavour and joy to the lives of those around us and in need of us.  Lux Mundi

Food Drive

Every month we organise a solidarity food collection to support families in vulnerable situations. We work in coordination with Cáritas Parroquial in Torre del Mar and the Social Services in Fuengirola, who assess needs and channel the help responsibly.

Thanks to the generosity of friends, Lux Mundi visitors, churches, associations, local businesses, and the Brotherhoods of Our Lady of Carmen and of Rocío, we regularly support around 35 families (about 140 people, most of them children) with non-perishable food and basic essentials.

Each package is more than just food — it is a gesture of love, support, and solidarity.

Items Needed:
Olive or sunflower oil, tuna, full-fat milk, biscuits, rice, pasta, chickpeas, lentils, sugar, cocoa powder, coffee, cereals, tomato sauce, nappies (all sizes), and special food for allergies and intolerances (gluten-free, lactose-free…).

You can take your donations to any of these collection points:

  • Lux Mundi Ecumenical Centre (insert address or Google Maps link)
  • BluCee Real Estate
  • Oasis Hair & Beauty
  • Go Café at Vals Sports Centre
  • La Tasca – Breakfast & Brunch Restaurant in Torre del Mar
  • Let Plus Spain Language Academy
  • Trilingo Idiomas Language Academy

If you would like to become a collection point, please contact us — we would be delighted and very grateful for your help in making this work possible.

Christmas Solidarity / Toy Drive

At Christmas, we run a special campaign with food and personalised gifts for each child, bringing hope and joy to those who need it most.

How can you help?

  • Donate non-perishable food and hygiene products
  • Make a financial contribution to keep the campaign running
  • Spread the word among family and friends

Your contribution makes a difference — thank you for being part of this network of solidarity.

CareTeam

The CareTeam is a group of committed volunteers who offer companionship and support to people who are ill, elderly, or experiencing loneliness. Through attentive listening, a caring presence, and practical help, we provide assistance in difficult times such as illness, bereavement, isolation, or complex administrative situations.

What kind of help do we offer?

  • Accompaniment to hospitals and health centres
  • Informal translations and help as interpreters
  • Assistance with filling out forms and guidance with paperwork
  • Visits to elderly people or those living alone
  • Emotional and practical support in times of grief or crisis

A team coordinator is present every Friday morning during our Coffee Morning to personally assist those who need guidance or help. We are also available in emergencies through our contact number. We always aim to respond with sensitivity and within our means.

Caring is a community act — and we count on you!

If you would like to get involved, click here to fill in a form with your name, phone number, languages spoken, availability, and preferred way to help (interpreting, visits, transport).

Charity in Network

Charity in Network is an ecumenical initiative of collaboration between different churches to provide a united response to urgent needs in our community — from Marbella to Nerja — where many congregations are present.

The aim is to create a coordinated network of solidarity, able to respond quickly and effectively to situations of emergency or vulnerability, regardless of location.

Who are we looking for?

We want to build a list of bilingual volunteers (Spanish–English / Spanish–German, etc.) — caring, empathetic, and compassionate people with some free time who are willing to dedicate it to others and respond promptly in an emergency.

  • Respond to urgent cases of social or humanitarian need
  • Visit people in situations of need
  • Collaborate with local churches and organisations in your area

It’s not about being available all the time, but about joining a living network where we can count on one another when it matters most.

Will you join us?

If you would like to be part of this network and are ready to help occasionally when needed, please get in touch with us. Your availability can make a real difference.

Together, we can build a network of hope in desperate situations.

Support groups

At Lux Mundi, we also make our facilities available to host meetings of important support groups that offer companionship and hope to many people.

These include:

  • Alcoholics Anonymous (AA)
  • Narcotics Anonymous (NA)
  • Al-Anon Family Groups

Because walking together is always easier.

Serenity Prayer
God, grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change,
the courage to change the things we can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

“Our goal is centred on the dream of a Church that bows before God in prayer and before our brothers and sisters in action.”

— writings of Fr Ramón Delius
