Excursion to the Belenes and Carol Concert

International friends joined an evening coach excursion to Malaga on the 11 December.

On arrival there was time to visit the various Belenes (Nativities) in various locations in the city, especially the beautiful one in the Town Hall. The friends also had time to wander through the various streets to admire the spectacular Christmas illuminations, especially those in Larios Street and the large Christmas tree in the Plaza de Constitution. There was also time for dinner, after which those friends who wished could join the congregation in the Parish Church of Los Santos Mártires, to listen and take part in the Carol service provided by the International Music Society Choir, under the direction of Margaret Williams. They sang 11 carols in Spanish, German and English and the congregation were encouraged to join in the singing. During the interval there was a short Piano recital of the “Impromptu No 4 in A Flat Major” by Schubert played by the concert pianist Christine Langley-Wallner. The Church service was a wonderful way to end the evening in Malaga.

The friends then re-joined the coaches for the final fun of the evening, a visit to the “La Mosca” area, situated in the outskirts of Malaga, to see the famous, unique Belen built into the mountain side, approximately 20 metres in length. Here the friends were treated to a glass of Cava, generously provided by the efficient and friendly Pareja coach company, before the homeward journey after a most enjoyable evening.

Both Lux Mundi centres would like to thank all the friends who supported the excursion, which enable them to continue with their Charitable work and look forward to seeing you all again at their various events and coach excursions.
