On the 8th of May 38 International friends of Lux Mundi from both Torre del Mar and Fuengirola met at Malaga Station with Carolyn Bowen the excursion organizer, before travelling on the AVE train to Valencia.
They arrived late in the evening and were transferred by coach to the 4* Hotel Eurostars Rey Don Jaime for a 4 nights stay. This hotel was an ideal choice for a visit to this wonderful city as there is a taxi rank directly outside and a tourist bus stop on the opposite side of the street.
The first full day was free for everyone to explore the wonderful attractions of Valencia, which is known for its City of Arts and Sciences, with futuristic structures including a planetarium, an oceanarium and an interactive museum. Many people caught the tourist bus and took the two routes, the historic and the maritime, taking in the many sights including the Cathedral, the central market, the Silk Exchange and Oceanographic.
On the Wednesday morning the group were taken by coach to El Palmar in the Albufera Natural Park and two boats were waiting to take them for a 45 minutes ride on the Albufera freshwater Lagoon, where they enjoyed the peace and tranquillity and saw plenty of bird life. Afterwards they walked to La Sequiota restaurant for a delicious traditional Valencian Paella lunch, with a choice of chicken or seafood, before returning to the hotel.
Thursday and Friday were again free with time to see more places and late on Friday afternoon the group returned to Malaga on the AVE train, exhausted but having enjoyed a truly memorable stay, with brilliant weather, in this delightful city. Lux Mundi would like to thank all the friends who supported this excursion and look forward to seeing you at the Centres at their coming events.
