Trip to Puerto de Santa Maria, Jerez, Cadiz and Medina Sidonia

From the 27 to the 30th of September, 58 friends of Lux Mundi, from both Torre del Mar and Fuengirola, set off for a 3 nights stay in Puerto de Santa Maria.

They arrived at the beautiful 4 star Hotel Monasterio de San Miguel in glorious early afternoon sunshine.  There was then free time to unpack and have lunch.  Later in the afternoon they were taken to the Bodega Osborne Mora for a guided visit, where they learnt all about the production and characteristics of the four types of sherry.  The guided tour was then followed by a tasting of the 4 sherries and a brandy and a visit to the shop.  Everyone returned to the hotel in good spirits!
On the Wednesday the group travelled to Cadiz on the catamaran and spent 5 hours visiting all the sights in the city, either by tour bus or on foot.  The group returned to Puerto de Santa Maria on the catamaran with a slight swell in the bay.
The next day they were taken to Jerez on the coach and they saw the performance of the Dancing Horses in the Equestrian School and afterwards the coach took them to the old centre of town, where there was plenty of free time to have lunch and to visit the Cathedral, the Alcazar, the city walls etc.
On the Friday morning the group checked out of the hotel and made their way by coach to Medina Sidonia where they had a guided visit of the historic town and two museums.  They marvelled at the Roman road and the Roman sewers which had been discovered.  After free time for lunch everyone got back on the coach for the return journey home, tired but happy, after 4 wonderful days away having seen so many fascinating places under brilliant blue skies.  All agreed that this had been a very successful excursion. Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar would like to thank all the friends who supported the excursion, which enables the Centre to continue with its Charitable Work and we look forward to seeing you all again at our various events and coach excursions.
