On Tuesday the 24th may we held, in the Diocesan House for Spirituality (Malaga seminary), a meeting with a group of 23 pastors of the German Evangelical Church, from different villages in the district of Kassel that belongs to the federal state of Hesse in central Germany , who came to Andalucía on a visit of several cities.
Their interest was to know more about the ecumenical situation in Andalucía and Spain, the relations between State and Church / Churches and the inter-religious situation.
This group was welcomed by Gloria Uribe Cifuentes of the Lux Mundi Foundation and Don Rafael Vazquez Jimenez Diocesan Delegate for Ecumenism. The meeting started with a short prayer thanking God for these meetings as they are the result of the excellent relations we have in our diocese with all Christian churches, who have made Lux Mundi and our diocese the meeting point and the support for ecumenical work.
Immediately after, Gloria Uribe answered their questions about the ecumenical work in the diocese in particular, and a brief overview of the ecumenical reality in Spain and on the work of Lux Mundi. Don Rafael Vazquez Jimenez answered their questions about the relation between Church and State, the recent meeting of the Malaga Bishop with the Imam and the Rabbi of Marbella and other questions related to Spanish history and how the Catholic Church has faced the historical changes of the twentieth century and what is the perspective of our Church today facing the actual social and political situation.
The meeting ended at the seminary chapel where Don Francisco Gonzalez G, Rector of the seminary joined us at the ending of this enriching and fraternal encounter.
