On the 25 of January a full bus of International friends of Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar, set off on a beautiful, but chilly morning for an excursion to Zahara de la Sierra and Ronda.
Zahara de la Sierra is reputed to be one of the 10 most picturesque white villages in Spain and it certainly did not disappoint the group. On arrival the view of the lake down below that greeted everyone was absolutely stunning! The first stop for many was in a bar in the Plaza Mayor for coffee, followed then by a visit to the beautiful church of Santa Maria de la Meza. Some of the more energetic climbed up to the castle which is built on a rocky peak at a height of 1100 meters above the turquoise waters of the lake below where the view was truly fantastic.
After a couple of hours the group rejoined the bus for the journey to Ronda where there was time to have a leisurely lunch, to view the famous gorge from the 18th century bridge and to visit various museums, the bull ring, the Roman Baths and many other interesting sites.
The weather remained dry until the journey home and everyone agreed that they had thoroughly enjoyed the day. Lux Mundi would like to thank all who supported this excursion, which enables them to continue with their charitable work and we hope to see you all at future events in the Centre and excursions.
